My first blog

If I was asked if I was a writer, my answer would be not really. I consider myself to be in the middle because I used to write but not as much as I used to. In seventh grade I would write stories but that I would only show some people who would want to see or who I would want to show. I would show my English teacher and she would say that it was pretty good. But I don’t write as much as I used to because my mind has just been everywhere lately.

I used to write stories that came from my mind but lately I have been asking people for ideas for stories. They would suggest different things and I would think of plot twists and character development. I would take their ideas and try to innovate or add on to it so it could have more of a meaning then the original idea they had. I also write reflective letters to myself almost like a diary but not really. The reflective letters would be about that one day in life and where I stand on that day and how I feel emotionally. I would also bring up past events that I thought in my opinion that I did wrong.

I like to write because it helps me calm myself when I feel stressed. I would write about how my day was if I was stressed or really calm. For some entries I would rant about how bad my day was and others would have the good parts of my day. Sometimes I don’t write because I wouldn’t be in the mood or writing would just be a lot of work to express what I need to say.

(I am going to do a poem. It’s not very creative as everyone does this everyday)

During this time of a panic pandemic,

We have to become really academic,

At home because online school is in session,

Because we have so much free time to question,

Looking through some memes,

With many crushed dreams,

Always being home,

Not able to roam,

Having nothing to do except chores,

Not being able to go to stores,

Getting those delicious meals,

No more with those store deals,

Sometimes I wonder how the Coronavirus started,

Some people say it started by someone eating a bat,

No one really knows how it started but it just darted,

Maybe it started because of someone who ate a rat,

One thing that I don’t like about the research paper is that we have to do so much research. A second thing I don’t like about the research paper is how we need to have so many links for finding sources and I get confused sometimes on what I am doing. My topic gives me a somewhat hard time because it’s about Shakespeare and his real identity. I have so many sources that have if Shakespeare’s identity is real and it is not real. It’s hard to go through each source and try to find information that could help me with this essay because I would have to go through the sources I have which have information but other sources have information that are a counterargument to the information I find. I get confused on what I should write because the information is there but I don’t know if I should write it or not.

Feeling: Stressed/Nervous

I chose to do the conspiracy theory of Shakespeare’s real identity. It seemed really interesting as to why people would think Shakespeare couldn’t be Shakespeare. A lot of people know who Shakespeare is and how famous his work is. Some people believed that someone else was also doing something like Shakespeare’s work. But some people also are lead to believe that someone is actually Shakespeare that could still be continuing their work. This has a lot of research all put together and try to prove it by doing their own research.

How I feel about this

Blog Post #3

The essay I had to write for rhetorical analysis was easy but hard to come up with some ideas. I struggled with how I should have my essay written with certain information because it listed somethings it didn’t have that I had so I wasn’t sure if I should add the information. But I believe the research I conducted was actually successful because all of the evidence coming from both sides was accurate information. I learned that there are different techniques that would be used in these ads like Ethos, Pathos and Logos. I would like to know if there are any more literary devices that I could find in the videos that I couldn’t find. Comparing two gaming consoles from the 90’s wasn’t actually that hard because all we had to do was look for any techniques, explain why it had that technique and find the purpose. In my opinion the Nintendo Gameboy and Sega Game Gear are equal to each other because kids from the 90’s would argue which is better but there really wouldn’t be a winner if they were equal.

Blog entry #2

During class today our group was assigned to persuade the U.S. Congress to ban guinea pigs. We chose this because one person decided to choose guinea pigs and we were assigned the U.S. congress so we decided on banning guinea pigs from the U.S. It wouldn’t have been successful because we would’ve needed more facts then what we already had. Also, we would’ve needed to make a whole slide presentation but we decided on making a google document instead. We used evidence from the Salisbury journal to try and support our statement. But overall I don’t think it would’ve been enough to persuade congress.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
